Steven Mark Santos

October 2, 1953 - December 8, 2021

Steven Mark Santos, 68 years old, of Spring, TX; went home to be with his Jesus that he loved with all his heart; on December 8, 2021 in Baton Rouge, LA surrounded by his family, after an automobile accident. Graveside services are scheduled for 3PM on Sunday; December 12, 2021 at Bedias Baptist Cemetery in Bedias, TX with Joey Gentempo officiating. The visitation is scheduled for Saturday; December 11, 2021 from 3-5PM at Day Funeral Home Chapel in Madisonville, TX. Steven was born October 2, 1953, in Waco TX, to Hugo Joseph and Barbara Gaile (Taylor) Santos. When he was 10 years old, he went to live at the Methodist Children’s Home and lived there until he graduated from Waco High School in 1972. He was an active member of the Methodist Children’s Home Alumni Association and devoted many years to that organization. Steven knew from the time he was in high school that he wanted to be an architect and that desire led him to Tyler Junior College and Texas Tech University where he received his Bachelor of Architecture Degree. The majority of his working career was spent in the architectural field in many different capacities and he never lost his love for designing and all things architectural. Steve, the oldest of 5 children, married Becky, the oldest of 5 children; and together; they raised 5 children. He would have told you that those were some of the best years of his life. Steve was a great dad who loved his children beyond measure and loved coaching their sports and attending their activities. Later, he and Becky welcomed their children’s spouses into their hearts and then those wonderful blessings of grandchildren which became the next best years of his life. Steven’s family, including his siblings and in-laws, were extremely important to him; all of them; no matter how near or far they lived. If you knew Steve, you probably knew he loved playing his guitar and singing. He sang in many church choirs, loved singing specials at church and just sharing his love of music wherever and whenever he could. You might not know that he was a diehard Dallas Cowboys and Texas Tech Red Raiders fan, and it didn’t matter how any season went. He loved sports in general, but football and softball were his favorites. Steve was a kind and gentle man with a heart as big as Texas. He would do anything asked of him without needing to know why and he would do it with a smile on his face. He was a quiet man who loved deeply and worked diligently at whatever his task was. His siblings all looked up to him as did his wife and children as well as those whose lives he touched with his life. He was loved by many and there is a huge hole that he leaves in his earthly home. Steven was preceded in death by his mother and her husband, Charles Boyette; his father-in-law, Bob Crouch; his brother-in-law, Steven Crouch; and his nephew, Justin Crouch. He is survived by is wife, Becky (Crouch) Santos; his children, Chris Crouch, Stephanie Landgraf (Greg), Jennifer Butts (Daniel), David Vantreese (Leanne), and Rachel Santos; his grandchildren, Camryn and Coco Crouch, Rowdy and Reese Landgraf, Bailey, Emily, Sophie and Samuel Butts, Chloe Tyers, and Jessica Vantreese; his great grandchild, Sky Bluebell Tyers; his mothers-in-law, Marcia Crouch and Glynn Crouch; his siblings, Sherril Santos Burg, Joseph Santos, Kevin Santos, and Kerri Franklin (Ricky); his siblings-in-law, Robert Crouch (Cindy), Frances Crouch Jarrell (Kevin), Layne Crouch (Michelle), and Trant Crouch (Mindy); and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. Serving as pallbearers are: Bailey Butts, Chris Crouch, Daniel Butts, David Vantreese, Greg Landgraf, Jimmy Wade, Kevin Santos, and Rowdy Landgraf.
