George Carl Thurman, Jr.; 71 years, 8 months, 17 days; of Huntsville, TX; passed away peacefully on August 27, 2020 at his home with his family. Funeral services are scheduled for 10AM on Tuesday; September 1, 2020 at Day Funeral in Madisonville, TX with the burial to follow at Park Cemetery in Madisonville, TX. The visitation is scheduled from 5-7PM on Monday; August 31, 2020 at Day Funeral Home in Madisonville, TX. Bro. Joshua Schwarz will officiate. Carl; as he was known to his family and friends; was born on December 10, 1948 in Houston, TX to George Carl Thurman, Sr. and Lois Elizabeth (Redman) Thurman. He served his country in The United States Army, graduated from Portland State University with a Bachelor of Science degree, earned his master peace officer certification, and again served his country with a career in law enforcement. Carl was preceded in death by his parents and he is survived by his wife, Donna Joy (Karber) Thurman; his children, Tisha Page (Christopher) and Steve Thurman; his 11 grandchildren; his 1 great grandchild; his siblings, Peggy Dhanda (Rahul), Patti Botz, and Penny Monosmith (Joe); his brothers-in-law who were like his brothers, Harvey Karber, Bruce Karber, Randell Karber, and Billy Karber; his sisters-in-law, Annette, Carolyn, and Nita; his good friend and long-time partner in law enforcement, Larry Robinson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Serving as pallbearers are: Steve Thurman, Larry Robinson, Joe Monosmith, Jonathan Travitz, Bart Karber, and Travis Botz. Serving as honorary pallbearers are: Harvey Karber, Bruce Karber, Randell Karber, and Billy Karber.
