Ellen (Evans) Jenkines

Ellen Evans Jenkines age 78, two months, and ten days passed away at St Joseph’s Regional Hospital in Bryan, TX Tuesday December 2, 2025. Ellen was born on September 22, 1947, to parents, Fred Evans Jr and June Lynch Evans. She graduated from Madisonville High School in 1966 and attended Sam Houston State University before becoming a wife, mother, Mops and her favorite title, Mimi. Ellen’s Madison County connections were generations deep, and she could relate local stories and history with delightful accuracy. She enjoyed keeping in touch with her classmate and planning and organizing the next class reunion. Ellen was a long-time member of the First Methodist Church where she served in an array of activities for the church. She was a loyal member of the Joy of Living Sunday School Class. For more than a decade local children benefitted from her work in the youth choir program, After School Kids (ASK) and the Father Daughter Dances. Ellen would assume responsibility for any task that benefited others. She enjoyed socializing with her Beta Sigma Phi Sorority friends and watching her great grandson Lane participate in Rodeo, Football, and Basketball. She was so immensely proud of her family and that was evident to all who spoke to her. Ellen had a true servant’s heart; she believed that time was the most precious thing she could give. From her patient and proficient driving skills, her legendary cherry pies, and her honest, unfiltered opinion. No fanfare, just simple gestures of her love and friendship. She was the most devoted Mimi to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her bond with each of them was truly rare – a blend of unconditional love, patience, and a quiet wisdom that made each of them feel uniquely seen. She showed up for every moment, big and small, celebrating each milestone with pride. Her love extended beyond her own family. Many grew up viewing her home as their second home, full of love, warmth, kindness, and acceptance. She had a remarkable way of making everyone feel welcome, and she touched countless lives. She leaves behind a circle of family and friends who were shaped by her gentleness, strength, and unconditional love. We will all miss her, but her current residence in Paradise is as sure as the sun rising each morning. Ellen is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Lunn Evans. She is survived by her children, Leslie, and Russell (Lacey), grandchildren, Kasey (Matt), Haley, Lauren (Kreger) and Jordan, and great grandchildren Lane and Kyra. Niece, Amy. Special family and friends, Lola and Stephen Padgett, Josh Padgett, Kim Portz, and Debby Whitehead.
