Annie Mae (Martin) Brown, 87, of Madisonville, TX; passed away on September 13, 2016 in Madisonville. Visitation will be held Friday September 16th at Day Funeral Home Chapel from 5-8PM. Funeral services are scheduled for 2PM on Saturday; September 17th at Day Funeral Home Chapel with the burial to follow at George Cemetery in Normangee. Bro. Jack Smith Jr. will officiate. Annie Mae, better known as “Mom Brown” or “Nannie” was born on March 15, 1929 in Normangee, TX to Lester and Alice (Walton) Martin, and she was the oldest of three children. Her mother and father were both deaf mutes, and because of this she didn’t learn to talk until she started school. Her and her siblings communicated by using sign language. After starting school she then taught her brother and sister to speak. She also taught all of us girls to use sign language. She enjoyed working as a waitress for many years, and her hobbies were fishing and working in the yard with her flowers. Mom also loved to go to church and sing as well as read the bible. She loved to sit in her rocking chair and sing gospel songs with us girls. You never seen her without a smile and always had a hug for everyone. She was known as “mom” to all who knew her. Mom Brown was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe Rogers Brown; her daughters, Jo Anne Reyes and Christine Brown; and her brother, Cisrow Martin. Mom Brown is survived by her daughters, Shirley Ann Rebollar and husband, Areli “Shorty” of Madisonville and Billie Jo Deal and husband Richard of Buffalo; grandchildren, Margaret Reyes, Shannon Reyes, Tonya Downard, Teri Deal, Tiffany Deal, Bill Vaughn Jr., and Dennis Vaughn; great grandchildren, Martina Larue, Martin Reyes, Austin Allen Ashley, Preston Lane Selman, Jaylen Reese Downard, Keith Downard, Christie Vaughn Blaine, Marcus Vaughn, Shawna Cotton, Sharon Pruett, and Chance Wayne Vaughn; great great grandchildren, Autumn Haven Larue, Victoria Tolliver, John Vaughn, Shalyn Cotton, Taylor Cotton, Bradlie Ann Crowley, Alex Rodell, Callaway Vaughn, Paisleigh Pruett, and Peyton Pruett; sister, Edna Lee Brown; nieces, Irene Bridges, Lee Ann Williams, Peggy Sue Reynolds; nephew, Kenneth Ray Martin, and a host of other loving relatives and friends whom she loved dearly. Pallbearers: Doug Downard, Thomas Mandrell, David Wayne Langley, Johnny Ray Brown, Jerry Lennard, and Cooter Brown.
