Lena Fickey, 90, of Madisonville passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2010.  Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Day Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow in Mount Tabor Cemetery.  The family will receive visitors from 5-7 PM Friday, February 12, 2010 at Day Funeral Home Chapel.

  

Lena was born October 11, 1919 in Madison County to R.L. “Bob” Fickey and Eliza (Hartnett) Fickey.  She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Jewell Utecht, Lillian Ferguson and Mildred Parker; brothers, Virgil Fickey, Joe Fickey, Cecil Fickey and Albert Fickey; nieces, Virgie (Parker) Donaleski and Dianne (Fickey) Stark; nephews, M.J. Parker, Jr.; and grand-niece, Norma Jean (Parker) Wilson.

 

Survivors include her sisters, Doris Rogers and Wyona Vance; and brothers, Robert Fickey and Floy Fickey; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and host of friends.  Pallbearers are Kenneth Fickey, Glenn Ferguson, Bobby Fickey, Roy Gene Fickey, Wayne Rogers and Steve Hennington.

I have many fond memories as a child of family trips to see aunt Mae and Jewell, we would pick strawberries gather eggs and they would always have some Juicy-fruit gum stashed on the refrigerator. Even as a child I recall her kindness, willingness to engage in conversation and the way she would always remember our birthdays, she will be missed.
