Lurnlean Booker was born in Madisonville, Texas to the proud parents of John Davis, Sr. and Anna (McCloud) Davis. She was the third of twelve children, nine of whom preceded her in death: Union, Bardon, Lee Esther, John, Jr., Al, Neal, Vivion, Riley and step-brother George. Lurnlean accepted Christ at an early age and was a long-time member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. Lurnlean met and married the love of her life Ed Booker on November 2, 1935. To this union three sons and one daughter were born; James Earl, Curby and Gail. Her daughter Anna B preceded her in death on April 17, 2000 and Ed, her beloved husband, went to be with the Lord January 1968. Lurnlean served many years on the Missionary and Mother Boards at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Madisonville Texas. In addition, she was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, where she served faithfully until her health began to fail. Lurnlean lived a full life; working many years as a House-keeper and a Cook while she treasured taking care of her husband Ed and the children. She especially enjoyed the company of her grand and great-grand children. She loved traveling to see them, she would say “get me a ticket Curby or James” when she wanted to visit. She moved the Las Vegas in 2004. She leaves to cherish her memory: Three sons, James Earl (Heather) Booker of Las Vegas, NV., Curby (Marie) Booker of Los Angeles, CA and of Gail Booker of Henderson NV; One sister; Vivian Hayes of Hobbs, NM; One brother; Herbert G. (Erma) Davis of Oakland CA. and twelve grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and dear friends.
