Mattie (Stricklin) Batson, 93, of Palacios, TX formerly of Madisonville passed away Monday, August 17, 2009.  Funeral services are scheduled for 2PM Thursday, August 20, 2009 at Day Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow in Ten Mile Cemetery.  The family will receive visitors from 5-7PM Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at Day Funeral Home Chapel. 

Mattie was born June 12, 1916 to John and Nannie (Honzell) Stricklin.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Garland Batson and 1 granddaughter. 

Survivors include her daughters, LaNita Slaughter and husband, Robert, Ruthie Ann Denney and husband, Leon and Johnnie Mae Flournoy and husband, Enoch; as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Ruth Ann, Johnnie Mae and LaNita: So sorry to hear about your mom. I have many fond memories of her and all of you. I especially remember her tuna fish salad. Sorry that I did not send flowers but only learned of her death this morning. God Bless, Doris Jo
