Frieda Theresa Sweetin, 92, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2009 in Houston, TX. The family will receive visitors from 5-7 PM Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at Day Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral mass is scheduled for 10:00 AM Monday, April 20, 2009 at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Wood River, IL. Burial will follow in Woodland Hill Cemetery in Wood River, IL. A visitation is scheduled from 2-6 PM Sunday, April 19, 2009 with a rosary at Marks Mortuary in Wood River, IL.
Frieda was born August 24, 1916 in Wood River, IL to Peter and Elizabeth Corrigan. She was a member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Bellaire as well as The Legion of Mary. Frieda loved her Lord and dedicated her life to his service. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George W. Sweetin; brothers, Bernard Corrigan and Charles "Hoss" Corrigan; and sister, Dorothy Wallace.Survivors include her children, George Sweetin and wife, Pat of Iola, David Sweetin of Normangee, and Mary Sweetin of Houston; brother, William Corrigan of Wood River, IL; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Alzheimer's Association.
