Arne Bertil Osth PDF Print E-mail

Arne Bertil Osth was born on the family farm on June 6, 1924 in Husas, Sweden and he was the second of four children to Eric and Lova Ost.  In Sweden, the spelling of the family name is still “Ost”.  At the age of 13, he left the family farm for studies in Stockholm.  He dedicated himself to his studies and in the early 1950’s he immigrated to the United States and gained citizenship.  Mr. Osth was an engineer and was involved with plastics manufacturing for the remainder of his working life.  His trade took him to Guatemala where he spent forty years working and enjoying the good climate.  He came to live with his son, Johan and his family in North Zulch, TX as is sight was failing him.

Mr. Osth leaves behind five grown children; Jan A. Ost, M. Linnea Ost, Linnea B Osth, A. Katina Osth, and K. Johan Osth who gave him eleven grandchildren.  Papa Arne, as he was called, led a full life; surviving an airplane crash, car accidents, gangrene, bankruptcy, and countless other incidents until his death on March 29, 2012.  The last three years of his life here in Madison County were; thankfully; peaceful with visits from neighbors, care from Dr. Morrow, a plentiful supply of pipe tobacco, and the Fox News Channel.  May he rest in peace, because in his life, he was always going and going.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date as many of his family members still reside in Sweden.
