 Burtis (Bates) Henderson, 80, of Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away January 10, 2012 after a long battle with chronic lung disease. She was born on March 26, 1931 in Nacogdoches, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. R. Burtis Bates and Panama Bates. She was a retired public school teacher and administrator. After living in Houston for over 40 years, she moved to Little Rock in 2006 to be closer to family. She is survived by one daughter, Dr. Kathy L Henderson; son in law, Dr. L Frederick Church, Jr., two grandchildren, Katie and Daniel Church. The family thanks Baptist Hospice and Parkway Health Center for their compassionate care during her final days. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Baptist Health Hospice, 11900 Colonel Glenn Rd; Little Rock, AR 72210.
Graveside services are scheduled for 11:30 AM Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Allphin Cemetery in Madison County. The family will receive visitors from 10-11 AM at Day Funeral Home Chapel prior to the graveside.
