Lewis Howard DeFore, 78 of Oakwood, TX passed away Saturday, November 19, 2011 in Houston. Graveside services are scheduled for 2 PM on Wednesday, November 23rd at Mount Tabor Cemetery. Bruce Hand will officiate. A visitation will be held prior to the graveside service at the cemetery beginning at 1PM. Lewis was born on September 16, 1933 in Macon, GA to Rufus and Martha Hutchin DeFore. He served his country in The United States Navy from 1952 – 1956 and retired as a contractor with The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Lewis was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Gladys Cox. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty McVey DeFore; children, Leilani DeFore, Quentin DeFore, and Tonya Zajicek and husband John; grandchildren, Michelle Moore, Justin Moore, Sean DeFore, Dakota Defore, Ashton Day, David DeFore, and Dylan Fowler; 7 great grandchildren; and sisters, Frances Defore and Miriam Nail.
