Ouida Standley Tarpley, 93, of Madisonville, passed away Monday; October 3, 2011. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 PM on Thursday; October 6th at The First United Methodist Church in Madisonville. Retired General Hiram Lee Jones and Dr. George Wilson will officiate. The burial will follow at The Madisonville City Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled for Wednesday from 5 – 7 PM at Day Funeral Home Chapel.
Ouida was born on January 4, 1918 in The Cottonwood Community to Ephriam and Loula “Mama Lou” Isgitt Strawther. She was married to Buford Standley and Robert Tarpley, both of whom preceded her in death. Ouida was a hairstylist in our community for over fifty years. In addition to her parents and her husbands; Ouida was preceded in death by her grandson, Stan Dee Standley; her great grandson, Connor Patterson; her sister, Idell Payne; and her brothers, Thomas Strawther and Neal Strawther.Ouida is survived by her sons, Ronald Standley and his wife Rose and Aubrey Standley and his wife Molly; grandchildren, Ronnie Standley and his wife Linda, Lori Patterson and her husband Steven, Dwayne Standley and his wife Anna, David Henson and his wife Lisa, Jason Henson and his wife Amanda, Stacy Bennett and her husband Mark, Brandon Standley and his wife Alisa; great grandchildren, Brandie Black and her husband Ron, Nick Standley and his wife Georgina, Garrett Patterson, Justin Standley, Hunter Standley, Marcus Bennett, Jake Bennett, Sam Bennett, Melissa Henson, Julie Henson, Joey Henson, and Jason Henson; and great great grandchildren, Bree Black, Emma Black, and Graham Black.Serving as pallbearers are: Ronnie Standley, Brandon Standley, Dwayne Standley, Garrett Patterson, Mark Bennett, Steven Patterson, Nick Standley, Marcus Bennett, Mike Woychesin, Roger Knight, Jr., Ashley Blagrave, Charles Strawther, and Craig Stover.The family would like to express their appreciation to Madisonville Care Center and Brazos Valley Hospice and especially to Rose Standley who cared for Ouida on a daily basis.
