Mary Francis “Jackson” McVey, 88, of Elwood passed away Thursday, April 14, 2011 in Elwood. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00AM Tuesday, April 19th
at Day Funeral Home Chapel in Madisonville. Sid Akin will officiate. Burial will follow in Elwood Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled from 5 – 7PM on Monday at Day Funeral Home Chapel. Mary was born August 29, 1922 in Delight, ARK to Hubert and Rena “May” Jackson. She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughters, Janet Blalock and Tonya Youngs; her grandson, Clifford Waltien; and her granddaughter, Micky Youngs. Survivors include brother, John Jackson and Susan; granddaughter (who she raised lovingly as her own child), Elizabeth Box – Brooks and Bob; granddaughter Tina Itzkowitz; grandson, John Box and Valerie; grandson, James Box and Jackie; grandson, Billy Youngs; granddaughter Kari Lewis and Jim; granddaughter Shannon Wunder and Paula; 13 great grandchildren; and faithful caretakers, Kathy Simpson and Bridgett Roundtree. Serving as pallbearers are: Donald Jordan, Randy Yahr, Corby Smith, and John Seele. Mary was a long time employee of The Standard Oil Company of Texas and worked there until she and her husband, Mac; along with her granddaughter, Elizabeth, moved to Elwood in 1970. While in Elwood, Mary was a very active member and a very strong supporter of Elwood United Methodist Church.
