 Alma Wooderson, 87, formerly of Iola, passed away Monday, March 14, 2011 at her daughter’s home in Alvin. Funeral services are scheduled for 3 PM Thursday, March 17th at Iola Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Doug Jones officiating. The burial will follow in Bedias Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 1-3 PM prior to the service at the church.
Alma was born May 23, 1923 in Rayville, LA to LeeRoy and Josephine Dunn Rogers. She was a longtime employee with The Houston Independent School District and a longtime member of Eastwood Baptist Church in Houston. Alma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Shannon; her daughters, Sophronia Jean Wooderson and Connie Louise Schmaltz; and grandson, Jason Michael Weber. Survivors include her daughters, Wynona Weber and David, Betty Moore, Sharon May and John, and Wanda Gonzales; her grandchildren, Jeff Weber and Emily, Joshua Weber and Krystal, Jacob Weber and Crystal, Shannon Moore, Kelli Moore and Chuck, Ashley Moore, Michelle Galvan and Juan, Rozalynn Schmaltz, Anthony Schmaltz, John Toliver May, Nicholas May, Amber Alise Gonzales, and Samantha Nichole Gonzales and Joe; and her great grandchildren, Darius Moore, Canyon Moore, Jordan Marie Weber, Magdalena Nichole Tobar, Rey David Garza, Jr, Caleb Barnes, Samantha Barnes, Nicholas Barnes, Lauren Weber, Jason Thomas Weber, and Sophronia Alise Fuentes. Serving as pallbearers are Jeff Weber, Joshua Weber, Jacob Weber, John Toliver May, Nicholas May, Anthony Schmaltz, Chuck Samples, and Shannon Moore.
