Joel Ray Adams, 73, passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2010 in Houston.  Graveside services are scheduled for Saturday, March 6th at

 

Bedias Baptist Cemetery at 11:30AM.  A visitation is scheduled prior to the graveside service at Day Funeral Home Chapel in Madisonville from 9:30 to 11:00AM. 

 

Joel was born January 13, 1937 in Houston to Warren and Ruby Lee “Knight” Adams.  He graduated from Sam Houston State University with a degree in Horticulture in 1959.  Joel founded Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity at Sam Houston State.  Joel was also a very successful business owner.  His experience was in automotive services equipment.  Joel designed and built dealership service departments, Quick Lube centers and independent repair facilities.  He enjoyed his college fraternity, fishing, and was a season ticket holder with The Houston Texans.  Joel was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Johnny Neal Adams.   

Survivors include his sons Nathan Adams and Tim Adams and wife Staci; grandchildren Shawnee, Bodie, Brianna, Cherice, Christine, and Chelsea; great-grandchildren Teddy Bo, Rayna and Alexa; his brother Warren David Adams and wife Letha; and his sister Mary Beth West.

I am saddened to hear of Joel's passing. The Sig Eps of Texas Eta are indebted to Joel for all his dedicated work on behalf of all of us. We will miss him, but will remember him always! God's blessings to Joel's family during this time of sorrow.
